‘design a mobile sales app for a trendy florist’

UX/UI Design, prototyping, ux research, figma, Art direction, branding

In June 2023 I started the Google UX Design Professional Certificate via Coursera. The course is broken into 7 segments and I intend to finished the course in November 2023.
Any progress on the projects I work on throughout the course will be updated on this page. All work done on this project was self-directed and completed entirely by myself.

The product:

A mobile shopping experience designed for digital urban users between the ages of 18-40 of the middle to upper class.

Problem Statement:

Tanya Kunvik is a Creative Director who’s moving back to the office after working remotely and needs Easy access to a local florist with fun, fresh, seasonal bouquets that offer some customisation because her office space needs a personal touch.

Goal Statement:

Our florist app will let users order custom bouquets in advance which will affect users who want to pick up orders when convenient for them by letting users skip going to the shop in advance to preview options/order we will measure effectiveness by number of users who order through the app once launched.

USER RESEARCH:

During my user research I created personas, problem statements, if/then statements, hypothesis statements, user journey maps, and created a competitive audit.

My assumptions changed after the competitive audit to really dive into why the pain points I undercovered in my research and in other services currently available need to be addressed in my product.

Pain Points:

  1. Turnaround time 2. Varieties offered 3. Generic options

User Persona:

“I want my office to be my sanctuary and the changing of the seasons is part of who I am.”

Age: 33

Education: Bachelor's degree

Location: London, England

Family: Engaged and living with partner

Career: Creative Director

Frustrations

  • She needs to be back in her office

  • Not feeling her office is comfortable or cosy

Goals

  • Find a florist that has changing inventory to keep her office fresh

  • Find a service that is reliable and easy to make small customisations

Tanya is a 33 year old woman working as a Creative Director in London, England. She has a partner who she’s been with for 10 years and she’s struggled to adjust to office life after the pandemic. Her firm has decided that everyone needs to be in office for 4 days a week. In order for Tanya to cope with this new change she’s hoping to be able to bring life to her office. Tanya is looking for a florist that is reliable and can handle a few customisations she requests while also having a changing inventory to keep up with what’s local and in-season.

WIREFRAMING

I created paper wireframes and then moved on to creating digitial wireframes of those sketches in Figma.

Usability Study Findings

Add Payment Options: Added a pay-upon-pickup, e-payment options and added a ‘gift note’ which linked to another piece of feedback

Checkout Page: Created a new Page to review the order before the order was processed

More Customisation Options: Added more fields to add a customisation, In the fill in the blank it is a check so that a new field will open to fill in

High-Fidelity Prototype

“River Street Blooms” is a ficitional business that I created for this project. This branding was created by me, and the illustration of the black-eyed susan is original and was done by me. Chosen colour palette for the brand was also art directed by me.

Looking forward to continuing in my UI/UX journey. This project is the final for course 5 of 7. I will continue polishing up my skills in this field and would love to work in a field where I can grow on them.
